A final-year law student of Ebonyi State University (EBSU), identified as Nwusulor Dorathy Akuchi, has been confirmed dead after she was involved in a fatal accident on her way to resolve a problem she had in school.


The deceased, who was the first female president of the Law Students' Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) of her school, was on her way to the Lagos campus of the Nigerian Law School when the bus she entered had a fatal accident on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. She died on the spot. 


It was gathered that two years ago in 2021, Dorathy was accused of embezzling part of the 2 million naira she was given to organize the department’s dinner.


It was reported that a lecturer in the department and some of her colleagues wrote a petition against her, as a result she was from not allowed to write her final exams. 


After all efforts to resolve the issue within the school proved abortive, she decided to seek redress externally. She, sadly, died on her way to Lagos.

Naira falls N770 to a dollars The Naira on Monday, June 19, closed at N770 per dollar at the investors and exporters (I&E) window.   FMDQ Securities Exchange Limited said Monday's closing rate represents a 16.1 percent depreciation from the N663 recorded on the last trading day (Friday).   Though the Naira is yet to gain stability following changes implemented by the federal government in Nigeria’s foreign exchange (FX) market, data on FMDQ shows that investors traded about $78 million deals on the I&E window.
